FAQ; Answered
What can I expect from the first session?
In the first session, we will speak about the past, present, and future. Exploring how you got to where you are today, and what you want your life to look like.
This includes childhood experiences and the emotions that are felt when thinking about our family, work, and relationships. In an effort to create a welcoming and safe space, we will only talk about what you feel comfortable sharing.
As we continue to work together, we will collaborate to identify specific areas of focus and determine what a path towards healing could look like for you.
Where are you located?
My office is located at 77 Central Street Suite C Asheville, NC 28801
I do not have a physical office space in Minnesota, but virtual sessions are available for individuals living in Minnesota.
Do you offer in person sessions?
Yes! I am currently offering both in person and telehealth sessions.
Only Telehealth for individuals residing in Minnesota.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
The duration of therapy can range from a few months to more long-term treatment. This will be determined collaboratively based upon the specific therapy goals and the progress made.
Another factor in determining the duration of therapy is the relationship between you and me. If at any point you feel as though our therapeutic relationship is not what you imagined, we can work together to determine the best course of action.
Sometimes two people don’t vibe, and that’s okay.
What are your fees?
I offer a sliding fee scale if you are planning to not use insurance. I am also in network for most of the major health insurance companies.
For Minnesota residents, I only accept Blue Cross Blue Shield. Sliding scale still applies.
Is therapy right for me?
If you are reading this, I think therapy is right for you! It can be unclear if we NEED therapy, but being curious about who we are or how to process a stressful event is a great place to start.
Regardless of how much we feel our anxiety or depression impacts our lives, it is helpful for us to find out why we feel the way we do. Without this understanding, the relationship with ourselves and others suffer.
In the therapeutic space we create together, we can collaborate to develop skills to cope with our emotions and develop deeper connections.
Do you see couples?
I do! The same information applies to my work with individuals in regard to the fees and what a first session will look like. We will explore the history of you as a couple along with the history of you as individuals and how this influences how you two feel in the present.
Do you see children?
I have a limited number of spots, but I do see teenagers. I do not see teenagers that are younger than high school age.
My speciality is working with high school aged boys. As a male therapist, I want to let them know that it is okay to have and feel our emotions. Hopefully even talk about them!
Do you see individuals that identify as LGBTQ?
I want to emphasize that I am an LGBTQ affirming therapist.
I am committed to providing a safe, nonjudgmental space where individuals of all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions are respected and supported.
I believe in the importance of understanding your unique experiences and challenges as an LGBTQ person. Your identity will be honored and valued throughout our therapeutic journey.
